Heather Yonker is an accomplished musician, conductor, composer, and multi-media artist. She holds both a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Master of Music in Music for Multi-Media from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A versatile creator, Heather has scored original musicals, industrial videos, animations, dance works, and independent shorts, earning critical praise for her “catchy” and “infectious” compositions. Her diverse background spans music direction for CTM and various Seattle theater projects, to producing her own award-winning experimental film. Following extensive fieldwork in Buenos Aires, she developed a performance specialty in Argentine tango. A dedicated educator, Heather maintains a lifelong private teaching studio for piano, voice, and composition. She actively supports the next generation through initiatives like the Broad Humor Film Festival and the “Do Something” series of free events geared toward nurturing young women in the areas of music and media arts. She is an active member of Madison Area Piano Teachers Association, Association of Unitarian Universalist Music Ministries, and the Madison Tango Society, and champions “Sound-Mind-Body”—a performance practice integrating mindfulness, intention, and flow.
